Graduation from high school, passing the CAHSEE, or reaching the minimum age of 18 years are the only requirements for junior college admission. There are no subject or grade requirements. However, the better preparation a student has in high school, the better the chances for success at junior college. Both local community colleges, Modesto Junior College and Merced College, work closely with THS counselors to provide on campus outreach such as application workshops and on-site math and English placement testing.

MJC Advanced Admission for Eligible High School Students
High school students: To be eligible to enroll in MJC courses, students must be at least 14 years old as of the first day of the semester, and the high school principal must certify that the student is prepared to undertake advanced scholastic or vocational coursework. High school students must enroll in courses recommended by their principal.
Fees: For students who do not qualify for a Board of Governors Fee Waiver, the college will waive the enrollment fee for up to 11 units. Students are responsible to pay all other related fees, including out-of-state tuition, if applicable. Students who wish to enroll in more than 11 units and are approved by their Board of Trustees and by the MJC President will be responsible for their own enrollment fees.

2+2 MJC Articulation Agreements
The "2+2" articulation agreements between the Turlock Unified School District and Modesto Junior College provide students with an opportunity to eliminate course repetition by awarding college credit for certain academic and technical skills satisfactorily developed while in high school. Students completing approved 2 + 2 courses may earn high school credit and be awarded college credit upon entering Modesto Junior College. Some articulated junior college courses satisfy the university requirement for a bachelor degree program.
