Participation in Student Government: All students at THS have the right to participate fully in their student government and all activities. Students are encouraged to express their concerns through their elected representatives. After securing permission from their instructor, students may also request an appearance before the ASB Student Council during a selected Leadership class period to express their concerns regarding a particular issue of importance. Students may also convey concerns by making an appointment with the Assistant Principal who oversees Student Activities.
Procedures for Running for Office: Any student who has a 2.0 grade point average, with no more than one “F”, no major discipline or attendance problems, and has a Student Body Card may run for class office. To be eligible to run for ASB Office, a 2.5 grade point average is required for the last 4 grading periods (in addition to no major discipline or attendance problems and possessing a Student Body Card). Students running for either class or ASB office must be on track to graduate.
On-Line Voting: Students vote electronically through the Internet for Class Officer and Winter Princess elections. In order to access a ballot, the student needs to know their User Name and Password. These confidential codes can be obtained in the Counseling Office or Activities Office. Voting can be done on computers in the Career Center, I-Tech lab, in the classroom or at home.
